Sunflower（ひまわり）

ひまわりは夏なつの象徴しょうちょうとして知らしれています。その大おおきな黄色きいろい花弁はなびらはまるで太陽たいようのように輝かがやき、見みる人々ひとびとに元気げんきを与あたえてくれます。田舎いなかの小ちいさな村むらに住すんでいた少女しょうじょ、花子はなこは、毎年夏まいとしなつになると近ちかくのひまわり畑はたけに遊あそびに行いくのを楽たのしみにしていました。

ある日ひ、花子はなこは村むらのお祭おまつりで一人ひとりの老人ろうじんからひまわりの種たねをもらいました。「この種たねを大切たいせつに育そだてれば、幸しあわせが訪おとずれる」と言いわれた花子はなこは、早速庭さっそくにわに種たねを蒔まきました。毎日、朝早まいにち、あさはやく起おきては水みずをやり、大切たいせつに世話せわをしました。

数週間後すうしゅうかんご、花子はなこの庭にわには美うつくしいひまわりが咲さき始はじめました。その花はなはとても大おおきく、黄色きいろの花弁はなびらは太陽たいようの光ひかりを浴あびて一層輝かがやいていました。花子はなこはその美うつくしさに心こころを打うたれ、ひまわりを見みるたびに幸しあわせな気持きもちになりました。

Sunflowers are known as a symbol of summer. Their large yellow petals shine like the sun, giving energy to those who see them. Hanako, a girl who lived in a small village in the countryside, looked forward to going to a nearby sunflower field every summer.

One day, Hanako received sunflower seeds from an old man at a village festival. Hanako was told, "If you take good care of these seeds, happiness will come to you." So she immediately planted the seeds in her garden. Every day, she got up early in the morning to water them and take good care of them.

A few weeks later, beautiful sunflowers began to bloom in Hanako's garden. The flowers were very large, and the yellow petals shone even more brightly in the sunlight. Hanako was struck by their beauty, and felt happy every time she saw a sunflower.
