This is a popular tourist destination for both locals and expats.
From about August to October every year is the time when the sunflowers in Mashiko are at their most colorful. While not as well known as the Hokuryu Sunflower Field in Hokkaido, the Mashiko Flower Field is loved for its tall, even sunflowers.
One of the interesting types of flower viewing here is cycling along the asphalt road through the fields. In order to avoid damage to the flowers, the paths in the field are wide enough for visitors to see the flowers and walk around.
During the sun flower festival season, a lot of tourists from all over the world flock here to take pictures and admire the scenery. Walking in the middle of the field, you will feel like you are lost in a vast maze, surrounded by flowering trees almost as tall as a human body. In addition to yellow sunflowers, Mashiko fields also have other flower varieties such as red and green sunflowers. After visiting the sunflowers, visitors can learn more about this long-standing local pottery culture.
