Things you'll love about Japan

1. Everything is real kawaii
If there's one Japanese word you need to know, it's  kawaii, which means cute. Everything in Japan is so cute. Daily life, everyday items, from backpacks and phone cases to umbrellas and even food are made so cute.

2. Character Culture
Japan is a country of characters. They are present everywhere and on everything. There are thousands of different characters in Japan, such as Kitty, Kumamon, Totoro, and my personal favorite, Gudetama.

3. Excellent public transportation system
The public transportation system in Japan is huge, fast, reliable, and very convenient. In big cities, trains run every few minutes, and are usually very punctual, and very clean (although sometimes quite crowded).

4. Seafood
Japan is famous for having some of the best seafood in the world, and fully deserves this title. Japanese seafood is very fresh. From  sashimi  to  takoyaki, there are countless dishes for you to sample, and often even casual restaurants serve high-quality fish dishes.

5. The politeness of the people
This impression is not wrong at all – the Japanese are generally very polite and considerate. Everyone is very kind and always willing to help others, even a foreigner like me.

6. Karaoke
I love Japanese Karaoke, much more so than the Western version of it, where one person sings in front of the others. As for classic Japanese karaoke, you will be in a private room with your friends only.

7. Aesthetic and attention to detail when packing
I am always amazed at the way items are packaged and presented in Japan – so beautiful and with such attention to detail. The bentos  (lunch box) is the best example – each dish is meticulously arranged in the square space of the lunch box.

8. Taste Matcha is in everything
Matcha  (green tea) is very popular in Japan, and this popularity has transcended the category of drinks. Lots of other treats, from Oreos, pancakes, and Kit-Kats, to cupcakes, ice cream, and chocolate, are matcha-flavored.

9. People are very reliable
In Japan, in general, everyone is very trustworthy, and the ideology of honor really works. I can leave my car unlocked without being stolen and leave my laptop unattended in coffee shops.

10. 100 yen shops
Much better than their $1 shop buddies, these wonderful little stores have just about every product you can imagine – home appliances, toiletries, food, and more. products, school supplies… all for 100 yen.

11. Health Care System
The healthcare system in Japan is high quality, convenient and affordable. All residents here must purchase health insurance, and most are enrolled in the National Insurance System of Japan, which covers up to 70% of medical expenses.

12. Konbini (Convenience Store)
These little convenience stores are literally everywhere, open 24/7, and have almost everything you need, including a wide variety of high-quality and ready-to-eat foods. good price.

13. Extremely Safe
Japan is one of the safest countries in the world. I am a lone woman living in Tokyo, one of the largest cities in the world, but never have I felt unsafe.

14. There is no law against drinking alcohol in public places
Japan doesn't have a ban on drinking alcohol in public, which means you can drink alcohol in places like that.

15. You can walk or cycle in Japanese cities
In the US, you will have to have a car if you want to get around. In Japan, cities are divided for people, not cars. Most neighborhoods have everything you need within close proximity, and are very cyclist and pedestrian friendly.
